Brothers and Sisters,
Since the most recent Lock Talk has come out, there have been many questions surrounding the Target that has been met and the incentive bonus. I have emailed the MERC Team and requested clarification for the following.
- Were the unclassified officers hours not used in the calculation for the target? If so why are we not entitled to the bonus?
- As an unclassified officer, I earn my sick credits, why are they being used against us in regards to the ASMPP?
- What is the difference between the ASMPP and the target incentive? Are they not linked together?
- With the sick credits that I earn why can we not cash out what we don’t use at the end of the year, or at least roll them into the next year?
- Are the recent rollovers entitled to anything as they were rolled over in 2009?
The MERC Teams response will be forwarded when I receive it.
Another request that has been asked of the Executive is some direction on what our rights are when the Police want to conduct interviews with staff?
The answer to this is simple. We are not obligated to speak with the Police whatsoever. I am not suggesting that we just refuse to speak with them, however it is important to know that you can refuse.
If you choose to participate in their investigation, you are also entitled to legal counsel if you wish. This is your right!
If someone wants to inquire about legal counsel in the future, contact me and arrangements will be made.
Unfortunately we do not have the same rights when CISU is involved. During these investigations we are compelled to give a statement. With that said, it is imperative that if you are required to attend a CISU investigation, never give a voluntary statement! It is also important to know that you are also entitled to bring a Union Rep with you. If someone is required to attend a CISU investigation, ensure that the Executive is aware so we can explain the interview process to you.
